Melancholy, Underneath the Starlight

Why is it that stars are compared so?
They are points of light so faint,
one wonders at their majesty...
Yet lovers compare their beloved's eyes
to those giants that sparkle in the night sky.
In science they are but huge globes of flame,
more akin to the pits of hell,
burning away in the heavens...
Flames that sear the black of space...

yet...
All on this Earth share one same sky
All breath, talk, laugh, live
under the watch of these sparks of radiance...
sometimes, late at night...
you may wish upon a Shining star...
an your dearest burning wish
hidden in within the vast voids of your being...
your little wish may Shine forth...
and all will be granted to you...
